FAQ

The PTA provides general support for the parents, teachers, and students at Fairfax Elementary. We actively fundraise to provide staff appreciation events, student and family events, student scholarships, among many other things. 

It supports your child(ren), their education and your community!

As much or as little as you want to do. If you're only able to contribute through membership and yearly dues, that's enough! If you are interested in also volunteering your time beyond that, we would love to have you! There are MANY ways you can get involved at a level that is right for you and your family. Whether your only have one hour a year available, or if you have the capability to run whole events, please check in with a member of the board for opportunities!

Anyone! It’s not required to have school‐aged children to be involved. Anyone who cares about the Fairfax Elementary community is eligible to join the PTA. In addition to parents and caregivers, many grandparents and community members volunteer at school events and help out the PTA with their time.

A single adult PTA membership costs $7 and a joint household membership is offered at a $1 discount for only $13. 

Nope! The PTA is entirely run on volunteer power!

There are no volunteer requirements for joining the PTA. But if you are interested in volunteering your time or skills, we’d love to have you! The PTA meets monthly, and we are always eager for new volunteers with energy and ideas. You can do as little as volunteering one hour per year at one single scheduled event, or as much as organize and run the whole event. There are opportunities for tasks that can be done from home or in the evening, and in person at the school. 

As a member of the Fairfax PTA, you will have the right to vote at PTA meetings and decide what activities our PTA will provide to children, and where to allocate funds. 

We raise funds through membership dues, fundraisers, and direct donations.
